Many theories exist on the origin of the Tarot. During different periods of the history, the secret one (the word means "conceal") or studies at the free disposal of all or deeply secretly, according to the authorities of the culture of the attitude towards the secret knowledge. A theory is that in the big library of Alexandria in Egypt, exist parchments that contain the whole knowledge of the ancient world.
The origin of these playing cards comes from the ancient Egypt and from a derivation of the famous "book of Thoth" or sacred book which origin believes was realized in golden sheets and it dictated by Thoth "Egyptian God" who was in charge of foreseeing the future and the measurement of the time.
Also he is ascribed with the invention of the numbers and of the writing in engravings. Apparently he had the whole respect of the rulers and the adoration of the people, which were considering him to be the God who was handling the life and the destination of all of them. It seems in the Ptolemies epoch, Hermes was consider the incarnation of the God Thoth, also he was a great king in Egypt.
The major arcana was believed it was his work, captured in the Emerald Table, which was a precious stone in which there was recorded the magic table, and it was later found in the Hermes grave. This table can be compared with tables that were established in the Moses' law.
Many of the symbols that appear in the "book of Thoth" is believed come from teaching of ancient civilizations that populated the Earth almost eighty centuries ago, and that left this trace with these engravings, many of them much updated nowadays.
It seems that the "book of Thoth" was written before the pyramids were construct and even from the beginning of the Egyptian civilization. In this book there was condensed the whole Universe, the animals, the civilization, the material and spiritual world, the intellectual world, the sky, the divine thing, the human and the cosmos.
Many prints of this book have to do with astrology and hence there is some similarity in part on their interpretation. It is believed that the creation of this book was a cause of great cultural information about the era and a desire to explore and discover the progress, science, and evolution of life.
There is great similarity between the prints of "Book of Thoth" with engravings on the pyramids and sphinx. Of these prints has led the creation of the prints of the major arcana in fusion with the 40 cards of batons, swords and cups that identify us in everyday life.
This set of cards are called "Tarot" or "Egyptian Tarot" and is what is used through the centuries and cultures as a method of divination.
It is said that the gypsies brought the letters to Europe and the "gypsy" is considered a form of "Egyptian" corruption. The Catholic Church called it "the devil's picture book" and the cards were quickly condemned as heresy by the Inquisition.

In the opinion of the alchemists and mystics, the universal significance of symbols like Tarot, presents and preserves, was thought from the first Anima Mundi or Soul of the World, which was considered a great repository of knowledge, as a Universal library, which was filled with memories and wisdom of the whole humanity - past, present and future.
Sometimes called the "Akashic records", this source of knowledge can be accessed by anyone willing to make the effort of deep contemplation.

The Devil is a card in the major arcana, but it represents: Passions, sexuality, desires, materialistic tie, selfish, evil tendencies.
Another letter is widely misunderstood, it is the famous letter of death, that death does not mean the physical body, but simply the change and transformation of some kind. Other researchers claim that these 22 letters represent the older mysteries, the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet and yet are in correspondence with the 22 paths of the Tree of Life.

The Major Arcana (greater secrets), or trump cards, consists of twenty two cards without suits; The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, The Emperor, The Hierophant, The Lovers, The Chariot, Strength, The Hermit, Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Hanged Man, Death, Temperance, The Devil, The Tower, The Star, The Moon, The Sun, Judgement, and The World, The Fool.
I. The Magician: Skill, spontaneity, eloquence, start of new targets.
II.The High Priestess: Ability to let things happen.
III. The Empress: intelligence, femininity, fertility, progress, achievements.
IV. The Emperor: mental maturity, firmness, stable force, power, performance.
V. The Pope: protection, person to turn to in difficult times, evolution, spirituality and finding inner truth, teaching and helping others.
VI. The Lovers: Love, choice, love, marriage, marriage.
VII.The Chariot: movement, progress, success, travel.
VIII. The Strength: Justice, balance, clarity, objectivity and impartiality.
IX. The Hermit: reflection, inner searching caution.
X. The Wheel of Fortune: Destiny. Beginning and end. Impending change.
XI. The Strength: Confidence, control, control.
XII. The Hanged Man, Sacrifice, delivery, testing, transition, regeneration.
XIII. The Death: Transformation, cleaning, necessary losses.
XIV. The Temperance: Balance, compromise, understanding, patience and trust.

While minor arcana consists of the same 56 letters included in the Spanish deck, although its graphics are not the same diagrams represent the minor mysteries of the manifest world. Each tarot card represents a universal law or principle, both for the spiritual worlds as the material world. Tarot cards work synergistically by the Law of Correspondence, being synchronized between themselves with the surrounding events, as they are raised and connected by the unconscious man.
Relationship with the Kabbalah
